Mudanza And Belly Dance with Amelia Moore

What is Mudanza?
Mudanza is a contemporary dance form that utilizes the fundamental
movement principles of Oriental Dance as a form of Modern Dance,
seamlessly blending Eastern and Western aesthetics and perspectives
into an organic whole.
The many facets of Mudanza reflect its multicultural influences,
from Yoga and Modern Dance to Turkish Romani Dance and Flamenco.
At its core it is a dance that moves to reveal the perfect
stillness within all movement.  Mudanza’s essence is the breath and
its continuous interchange of expansion and contraction.  In harmony
with and fueled by rhythm and music, its expression takes shape
through the painting of energy patterns inside and outside the body.

neighborhood.  For address and directions, please call Amelia at

Class Descriptions:
           Turkish Roma (Gypsy) Dance-
This class is open to all levels- this dance shares
many similarities with Belly Dance but is entirely its own unique
creation. Deep, saucy and fun, it also will challenge your fitness and
coordination! As a participant and rarely a spectator dance, each
region, neighborhood and family will have their own flavor of
movement. This is the style unique to the family of Amelia’s teacher
Reyhan Tuzsuz from Istanbul, Amelia encourages anyone who is
interested to learn from the source- contact Amelia for Reyhan’s
contact information in Istanbul.
            Mudanza/Belly Dance-
All classes begin with a rigorous and meditative
warmup that combines elements of yoga, ballet, flamenco and bellydance
technique to strengthen and lengthen the body and center the mind.
Then we work from the inside out, exploring the
core of the body and then expanding this technique to incorporate our
eyes, face, head, limbs and balance as we move into movement
combinations.
We will also be exploring aspects of rhythm, music
and motivation and how these can deepen and enrich the dance.
            Mudanza/Belly Dance-
Building on the material stated above,  we
move from movement combinations to full choreographic phrases and
dances.  Emphasis is on musicality, energy and clarity of intention.
