What is a “Belly Dance Ball?”
Belly Dance Ball is a “First Thursdays” event hosted by Dahlia and Nadira at Kolbeh Persian Restaurant.  It’s an official all ages get-together for belly dancers, friends and family, and belly dancer aficionados to enjoy a mini belly dance lesson and showcase featuring both novice and professional dancers, students, and instructors in our community and beyond.  Each month features a professional dancer and her students or chosen guests.  $5 cover charge.

About Nalini:
Champion of Russia for Belly dance in 2003
Numerous  Prize winner in International competitions in Moscow
2003-2004
Nominated as The best solo performer 2004- in Russia
Since age 16, Nalini has worked on professional stages with Bollywood dance.  When she was 17-23, she studied at Nizhyn College of Culture in the Choreographic Department. After graduating with honors, she came to her hometown Mogyliv-Podilskiy and for 3 years worked with dance group, “Dnister cluster.” The group took part in regional competitions for dance and participated in festivals on city and regional holidays.
For about 10 years, Nalini lived and worked in Moscow, Russia, traveling to many different countries, studying Arabic belly dance and participating in festivals and competitions, and also seriously studying the Indian dance Kathak at the embassy of India in Moscow.

Today some of her students back in the Ukraine have graduated from Dance colleges and have their own dance schools.  One of them, Natalya Antipova, today is a famous Russian belly dancer and Champion of Russia of bellydance- 2005.

New ATS Beginning Series with Troupe Hipnotica April 8 in Seattle

Intrigued by Tribal Style but don’t know where to start?  Explore the style that has inspired a whole new generation of Belly Dancers.

Troupe Hipnotica beginning classes focus on American Tribal Style Belly Dance as first created by Carolena Nericcio and Fat Chance Belly Dance. Find out what the ATS posture is really about and enjoy the freedom of improvisation with Troupe Hipnotica.

Beginning I- Intro to Tribal Movements - Sundays 6-7pm
This class explores the basic movements of the improvisational language of American Tribal Belly Dance. Emphasis is placed on posture, a signature element of ATS that conveys the strength and beauty of the dancer while protecting the body.

Every class begins with a yoga inspired warm-up. Clothes comfortable for movement are encouraged.

Beginning II- Intro to Improv Choreography - Sundays 7-8 pm
More complex movements are explored in this class along with leading, following and beginning concepts of improvisational choreography. Students are encouraged to have completed at least one cycle of Beginning I before attending this class.

Please come join me for an exciting 5-week session of Belly Dance at
VDP studio in Fremont!  My classes ALWAYS include fun, dancing warm-ups and at least 15 minutes of good, strong stretching.  You will never wonder how to do a movement in my classes.  Each movement is broken down to the most minute detail so you can practice efficiently on your own.  The dance style generally taught in class is Egyptian, using exclusively classical and popular Egyptian music.

Beginners:  6:15-7:30
“Know your Rhythms!”
Learn basic technique for some of the most popular Middle Eastern rhythms: Saiidi, Baladi, Chiftitelli and Masmoudi, Maqsoum, and Khaleegy.

Intermediates: 7:45-9:00
“Shimmy Madness!”
Be ready for 5 weeks of shimmy workouts. Review and perfect many different ways to work your 3/4 shimmy. Plus, work on layering your flat-footed, toe, vertical, Egyptian, and Freeze shimmies! Let’s sweat and shimmy into the summer!
