Debke and Khaleegy Workshop with Noura
1:00pm to 4:00pm
Noura will teach Basic Debke line dancing, including a simple choreography and discussion. Please bring dance shoes or boots with a heel if you have them. Following Debke, Basic Khaleegy dance taught as a social dance. Bring a thawb if you have one, there will be a few loaners available. Afterwards, learn how to incorporate folk dance elements into your routines.
About Noura…
Noura began bellydancing in high school after seeing a performance of Kismet. She has studied with Jamila and Suhaila Salimpour, Badawia, Bert Ballandine, Aida al Adawi, Mahmoud Reda, Serena Wilson, Morocco, Nadial Hamdi and Hassan Harfouche. Joining Shahrazad Ensemble in 1995, she has become increasingly interested in the folk dances of the Middle East, while maintaining a classical Egyptian style for solo performing. She has traveled to Egypt and Jordan and reads and speaks some Arabic.

Exotic Undulations with Halima!

Cost $25.00 pre paid or $30.00 at the door
This is a rare opportunity to work with Halima, who will share her secrets of creating “Exotic Undulations” at this workshop. As dancers we know that we are capable of executing various and captivating undulations, however, we don’t often have a clear understanding of exactly how to change our movements in new and different ways. Halima will share her experience and suggestions on how to expand your repertoire of undulations in a joyful and fun environment.
The beauty of undulations can be expressed by any dancer in her own unique way!
We invite you to come work with Halima at this special and rare workshop, where she will share her love and devotion to this dance form.
About Halima…
Halima has studied, taught and performed both cabaret and folkloric styles, as well as being a member of several popular dance companies. Her experience as an owner, officer, and editor of different belly dance publications has earned her several awards. Costume design has been a passion for her for 25 years. Her love for Middle Eastern Dance is reflected in the time and hard work she puts into promoting this dance form. She has been instrumental in bringing well known artists to the PNW who have provided invaluable training and insight. Her background also includes development of competition criteria and experience as a judge.
