ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Dr. ROBYN C. FRIEND (Persian and Tajik dance) is a singer,
dancer, choreographer, and linguist who specializes in Iranian
and Turkic folklore, and has performed throughout the United
States, Europe, and in Central Asia. She has studied with noted
teachers in Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and the U.S.,
and continues to do research both at home and abroad. Her
choreographic credits include work for the AMAN Folk Ensemble,
the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, Het Internationaal
Danstheater of Amsterdam, and the University of California
Santa Barbara Near Eastern Ensemble. With her husband, musician
Neil Siegel, Dr. Friend performs the classical music and dance
of Iran, Turkey, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, traditional songs
and dances from the Near East and the Balkans, and other European
and American repertoire. Dr. Friend uses her extensive training
in dance and Pilates to provide students with an understanding
of how proper posture will improve all aspects of a dancer’s
technique; she is especially known for her ability to teach the
delicate arm and hand movements necessary for Persian and
Central Asian dance, in a way that will improve a dancer’s arm
movements for all forms of Middle Eastern dance. Dr. Friend
teaches and performs, mostly for the Iranian community, in Los
Angeles.

War/Belly Dance E Book & Law of Attraction

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

About the E-book
“ How to Be the Belly Dancer of your
Dream; Release the Genie!”
and Author Katherine Saab.
http://www.bellydancebook.com/

Dear Dancers

I would like to take a moment to tell you about a little book I
think you will enjoy. It will help you become the belly dancer
of your dreams as well as well as improve the circumstances of
the rest of your life.
This is really a three way win, win, win situation because the
purchase of this book will also help my friend out financially
who is a refugee from the war in Lebanon, as you will see as
you read.
I am a firm believer that belly dance is not just a dance but it
is a tool for one’s personal growth. As we learn to have power
and control over every individual part of our bodies, this leads
us to learn to have power and control over all aspects of our
lives as well.
This book was recently written by a friend of mine named Kathrine
Saab. I met her when I first started belly dancing many years
ago. She was a yoga instructor and the owner of the first place
I ever started teaching belly dance. It was called Radiance Yoga
and Dance in the mission hills neighborhood of San Diego. In
those early days both belly dance and the use of the law of
attraction was becoming very familiar to both of us.
Our lives went in separate directions but every once in a while
our orbits would collide for a lunch or a drink. We would fill
each other in on the miracles of our lives. Katherine is a
passionate person connected to people and relationships more than
things. Her path of her life took amazing twists and turns. She
lived in all different places in the world; California, North
Carolina, Sweden, England, Lebanon, Kuwait, and currently she is
a refugee from the war in Lebanon living on the island of Cyprus.
She has witnessed some amazing world situations and frightening
calamities that were far from ordinary; she was at the epicenter
of a huge California earthquake, a hurricane in North Carolina,
a horrible near critical car accident before she went to Sweden,
and most recently the war in Lebanon. She married 4 times to men
with completely opposite cultural backgrounds. She has two
children; Jenny from her first marriage and Hunter from her most
recent.
They told her she would never walk again, they told her son was
going to have a extremely hard time with a birth defect, she bore
the pain of her daughters struggle with deep depression, and her
Mother being in a terrible accident. She had to leave their home
and business and escape with their lives, out a back road from
Lebanon to Syria. She had to leave everything behind, home
posessions belly dance studio and costume shop, car (can you
imagine?).
None of this is what her book is about, but I tell you because I
know that these extraordinary challenges have made her an expert
on the law of attraction. They have tempered her resolve and
focused her wisdom. She had to start from scratch on many
occasions. For her, the things worth saving were people,
friendships, bodies and souls. The physical possessions and
necessities came easiest when needed. She would trust in the
universe, visualize, attract and watch how providence would
always move around her and provide, mend and heal.
Kathrine has always had a great attitude for seeing life as a
grand adventure unfolding with every dancing step. Her smile
and positive attitude have pulled her through all situations.
She is an amazingly creative, imaginative, caring and
compassionate woman if you should ever meet her you will know
what I mean.
Today she shares her knowledge of how this universal law of
attraction can work for her dancing sisters in her e book called
“ How to Be the Belly Dancer of your Dream; Release the Genie!”

It’s worked for me!

Yours truly
Delilah

Halima’s Exotic Undulations!

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Saturday August 4, 2007

1:00PM to 3:00PM
Cost $25.00 prepaid or $30.00 at the door

This is a rare opportunity to work with Halima, who will share
her secrets of creating “Exotic Undulations” at this workshop.
As dancers we know that we are capable of executing various and
captivating undulations, however, we don’t often have a clear
understanding of exactly how to change our movements in new and
different ways.   Halima will share her experience and
suggestions on how to expand your repertoire of undulations in
a joyful and fun environment.

The beauty of undulations can be expressed by any dancer in her
own unique way!

We invite you to come work with Halima at this special and rare
workshop, where she will share her love and devotion to this
dance form.

About Halima…
Halima has studied, taught and performed both cabaret and
folkloric styles, as well as being a member of several popular
dance companies.  Her experience as an owner, officer, and editor
of different belly dance publications has earned her several
awards.  Costume design has been a passion for her for 25 years.
Her love for Middle Eastern Dance is reflected in the time and
hard work she puts into promoting this dance form.  She has been
instrumental in bringing well known artists to the PNW who have
provided invaluable training and insight.  Her background also
includes development of competition criteria and experience as
a judge.
