This is a rare opportunity to work with Halima, who will share
her secrets of creating “Exotic Undulations” at this workshop.
As dancers we know that we are capable of executing various and
captivating undulations, however, we don’t often have a clear
understanding of exactly how to change our movements in new and
\different ways. Halima will share her experience and
suggestions on how to expand your repertoire of undulations in
a joyful and fun environment.
The beauty of undulations can be expressed by any dancer in her
own unique way!
We invite you to come work with Halima at this special and rare
workshop, where she will share her love and devotion to this
dance form.

About Halima…
Halima has studied, taught and performed both cabaret and
folkloric styles, as well as being a member of several popular
dance companies. Her experience as an owner, officer, and editor
of different belly dance publications has earned her several
awards. Costume design has been a passion for her for 25 years.
Her love for Middle Eastern Dance is reflected in the time and
hard work she puts into promoting this dance form. She has been
instrumental in bringing well known artists to the PNW who have
provided invaluable training and insight. Her background also
includes development of competition criteria and experience as
a judge.

On July 21st, Saturday, Med Fest will once again be competing
against the West Seattle Hiyu parade. Negotiating your way in
and out of the close proximatey of the park will include delays
and re-routes. We suggest you turn LEFT onto Walnut from Admiral
Way and follow to the back side of the park. This also makes
parking premium real estate before, during and just after the
parade.
So plan WAY ahead if you need to be at the festival at a certain
time. Give yourself plenty of time to do battle against the
notorious floats and little marching girls in cowboy boots.
Access to the high school parking lot will be restricted, unless
we can get them to open the gates from the Walnut side.
Be Aware and Be Prepared!!!

yoga, Aleili. She was a premier dancer for “Yaleil Middle Eastern
Dance Company” in the 70’s along with Bellydance Superstar Ansuya
Rathor’s mother, Jenaeni in California. She has been featured in
several television productions as both a performer and
instructor. She now teaches classes and directs her dance troupe
Veils of the Nile on the Eastside.

Last night was quite the night! Zehara and Tamzine graced us with
beautiful performances! Aracely’s CD was not in the right format
so Tamzine’s husband, David (the awesome drummer from the jammin’
Mediterranean Raqs Band) came to the rescue and drummed while
Aracely danced. Bravo!
Seattle Bhangra Groove “raised the roof” in true bhangra style
and I tell ya, if it weren’t for the delicious dinners waiting
for them on the table, they would have grooved all night long!
They even got Harvinder Kalia (the owner) to dance a whole song
with them!
As a grand finale, Jason entertained us with a spontaneous
birthday cake candle dance - or at least an attempt to balance
the lighted cake on his head! I think seeing Saqra balance
everything from a soup bowl and water glass to double swords
might have influenced him! 
It was one big, ole party and I can’t wait to do it again next
month!

The event happens on the second Sunday of every month. Next
month’s event is on August 12th. Dancers at all levels, beginning
through professional, are welcome!
Beginners, it’s a fun, safe environment to make your performance
or solo debut!
