WORLD DANCE SHOWCASE II Sept. 2

Hello again from your friendly
World Dance Showcase organizer:

The September showcase is fast approaching — this Sunday,
Sept.2nd, 6:30pm at the
Northside Grill (8550 Greenwood Ave. N.).

The lineup to date is:
Gigi Gulhan - Modern Turkish/Egyptian Cabaret
BreAnn - Egyptian Cabaret
Me - Saidi + Egyptian Cabaret

While it appears that audience support will be good, performer
signups have been thin due to the holiday weekend. (Hey, I guess
Gigi, BreAnn and I get to share the limelight!)

So for those that will be in town, here is your shameless plea
to come share your talent this Sunday! The event is capturing
the interest of other organizers and venues in the area, so
take advantage of this networking and showcase opportunity.

The October lineup is already looking hot, so hurry with your
requests if you’re interested in that month. Below is the full
W.D. Showcase announcement.

WORLD DANCE SHOWCASE
First Sundays at The Northside Grill — 6:30-8:30 pm - No Cover

A new and exciting monthly “open dance” event has been born,
celebrating the many expressions of dance across the globe.
Soloists and groups of ALL genres are invited to present and
share. In the same spirit as an open-mike or jam-session for
musicians, poets, or comedians, this dance forum welcomes
performances from seasoned professionals to courageous
neophytes.

I wanted to create a place for all of us to get to know the
rich variety of our art form; to exchange, discover, and
inspire, as well as create a platform for the dance artists
that are experimenting across genres.

The next Showcase takes place on Sunday, September 2nd. Are
you in?

Email your dance spot request to planetsuzanna@gmail.com with a
bio of 60 words or less, and come prepared with an act of no
longer than 9 minutes, with accompanying music on one CD, to
specification. One or two live drummers (or other acoustic
musicians) are welcome, keeping in mind that performance space
may be very limited. Performers should arrive no less than 30
minutes prior to showtime. Please don’t hesitate to bring your
promotional materials. But most of all, bring your peeps and a
love for DANCE.

The Northside Grill (8550 Greenwood Ave. N.), is a casual,
family-friendly, Moroccan-American restaurant. Billed as
“where North Africa meets North Seattle,” the menu includes
burgers and a tuna melt, as well as Moroccan chicken brochette,
savory-sweet phyllo pastry, and a sinful banana crepe nutella
dessert. Beer and wine of course – and all wines are available
by the glass.
