The Seven Dancing Sultanas

Monday, October 29th, 2007

The Seven Dancing Sultanas - A benefit show for Ujima Community
Services, One Church, One Child of Washington State, produced
by Y’Chessa Dahli Middle Eastern Dance Ensemble, is a
bellydance fairytale for the whole family.

A spellbinding storyteller, a frolicking fairy, dancing
daughters, a lovestruck drummer, an evil enchantress, a regal
sultan and his fierce royal guard, played by Axe Capoeira
Brazilian Martial Arts, will enchant and delight you in this
epic tale of love and peril.

Seattle Spin said — “If you’re Nutcrackered-out this year …
this show is a worthy holiday alternative.”  - Seattle Spin

We are casting a spell in Fremont!

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

We are casting a spell on Halloween night in front of
the Troll in Fremont! It’s a Fremont Arts Council
program called Trolloween
7-8 PM Oct 31st

Our Spell

-Beneath a veiled moon
The living Goddess hears my tune

From in the Earth she resurrects
To save our world from, fascist?s steps

Blessed uterus and ovary
Come hither hip, and rolling belly

When Shimmies shake and undulate
Our Mother Earth will flood and quake.

Fire man, and judge and priest
Secretary nurse and beast

YES, Dogs and cats and even you!
Be belly dancers through and through

Hurry hurry, we have so little time!
Wake UP the Goddess in body and mind

Feel the stress of every day
From each of you, now melt away

In Peace, in Love, in Harmony
Bellydancers all, you all, shall be!

Yes Dogs and cats and even you!
Be belly dancers through and through!

Written by  Delilah, Laura Mc Cullum, and Victoria

Enacted by Delilah as the white Witch of Fremont,
Laura Rose as her familiar, Dahlia Moon as the Goddess
with the Visionary Dancers and their Green Men.

New Youtubes

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Hi there,

Delilah here,

Laura Rose just made VDP a trailer to put on the new
Belly Dance TV DVD coming out of LA in the next couple
month by Ana Brenna. Belly-dance-forever just put it
up on youtube! I think it’s cool. (I wish you tubes
were clearer but that’s the nature of You tubes I
guess.)

Check it out when you have time.

Also we have been working hard on house cleaning our
web site. Thanks for your patience. I know it’s been
scrambled. Web stuff takes time. This page has been
recently cleaned up and added to. It will be added to
in the coming months with more photos, articles and
video clips. . .

So our scheduled troupe performance at Kalia Indian
Cuisine in Lynnwood will be our last (at least for some time).

Please join us on Sunday, November 11, at 7 PM, for a
memorable evening. Our show will include our super new
“Glam Routine” and our favorite specialty solos (Candle
Dance, Karsilamar, Shamadan (Egyptian Candelabra),
Sword, and Veil).

Reservations are advised. Here’s the information:

Kalia Indian Cuisine
4520 200th Avenue SW #202
Lynnwood, WA  98036
phone: 425-771-6422

No cover charge, but Mr. Kalia would like you to purchase
something to eat. (And it’s delicious!) If you don’t like spicy
food, your wait person can ask the cook to leave the heat
out.

–Review by Theresa Edwards–

In the heart of Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood, The Northside
Grill is offering up delicious fare for all the senses. American
and Moroccan cuisine, paired with dances from around the globe,
delight audiences on the first Sunday of each month….Dancers
and small troupes of all genres present their artistry in the
spirit of sharing and discovery. Delightful surprises are
quickly becoming the norm at The Northside!

The Northside Grill has a relaxed, open, friendly feeling, and
the service is great.  Billed as “Where North Africa meets North
Seattle,” the menu includes favorites from both American and
Moroccan cuisine. Burgers and sandwiches, Moroccan brochettes
and specialties, and several vegetarian offerings give diners
plenty of affordable (yes!) options to choose from. Yummy
desserts are also available, as are beer and wine. Everyone I’ve
talked with has said their meal was very good.
