Just an early notice that Elisa, Aleili and I are teaching at
Goddess Squad in August and Sept.
 
Classes are 8:30 - 9:50 pm, on the top floor of El Centro de
la Raza, 2524 16th Ave S (#311), Seattle WA 98144
$10/class for drop ins, or $48/6 Class Card (=$8 per class) valid
for 3 months from the date of purchase
 
I’ll be teaching on September 10 (Becoming the music, with and
without veil) and on September 17, 2008 (Saidi rhythm and
movements, with and without cane)
On August 20, Aleili will teach the use of yogic breath to
enhance, strengthen, and expand Belly Dance movements.
 
Elisa will be tailoring each class to the group that shows up.

Each week Elisa Gamal will explore various topics and techniques
including strengthening and stretching, expression and self
exploration, musicality, veilwork and sharing our artform with
others, encouraging a dance experience that is natural, intuitive
and fun. Every song is a treasure map and each dance is an
adventure - where will it take us today?

Hi Everyone!

I am taking time off of teaching and performing to work on an
instructional DVD for breast cancer survivors.  I am also
working on a performance DVD, and a dance theatre project.  I
am looking for people to trade private lessons with, in exchange
for various talents to help pull this together.
I am trading private lessons, a $65.00 per hour value.
Things I need:

1.  Musically inclined people to create and music for my DVDs. 

 I have a World Music track collection (over 8,000 tracks) and a
 mixing program.  Mix a collection for yourself while you are at
 it!  I will want to meet with you and discuss musical background
 etc. I have specific needs.

2.  Artistic creative types to help build stage props, (fake
rocks, canvass backdrops, whatever)

3.  Some one to Transfer my old VHS performance footage onto
DVD, (I have the copier)

4.  Help with very simple costume alterations (simple seams,
hand stitching etc)

5.  Costume design consultation and creation (for the more
experienced seamstress/ster)

6.  Help finding a new car!

7.  Help finding a scooter

8.  Computer consultation

9.  Photo shop

I am filming in July for the performance DVD, so costuming and
music is the most urgent!  The instructional will start filming
in October/November.  You’ll get your name in the credits!!  J

Marion Moat has pleasure of hosting Kalia’s in Lynnwood, Second
Sunday of every Month! coming up on July 13, at 7.
No cover charge but we will pass the basket after the show to
collect tips for the dancers, and do we have some wonderful
dancers! Performers will be varied and exciting, an evening not
to be missed!
Appearing will be;

Nafiah, she began dancing 5 years ago studying with Jaleh in
Puyallup.  She became quickly addicted to her new hobby.  One
year later she began dancing with Jaleh’s student troupe Raks el
Zahira.  The following summer she was asked to join Jeweled
Scarab Dance Company, which she continues to be a member of
today. She loves what this dance has given to her and her
daughter with whom she often duets with.  Empowerment, self-
esteem, creativity, and spirituality.

Malia is a sought-after dancer in the Seattle area that has
studied this art form for many years.  She believes dance is a
personal journey for both the performer and the viewer and
invites you to experience it along with her tonight.  She not
only performs at many public venues in the Puget Sound region
but also is available for private parties and corporate events.

Sahaila is an award winning professional dancer who performs
American Cabaret style belly dance and designs and creates her
own costumes.  She has performed in the Seattle area for many
years in the Greek and Arabic Clubs, Indian Restaurants, and
private parties. She teaches in Renton, and is available for
private, semi-private, group classes, and workshops.
Sahaila started belly dancing when she went to sign up for a
microwave cooking class; the class was full, so she took belly
dancing instead!  She was hooked from the very start and it
continues to be a wonderful part of her life - only now, she
does all her “cooking” on the dance floor!

Bella Jovan. Has been belly dancing for 2 and a half years. She
loves dancing with all her heart. Teachers are Delilah, Dahlia
and Nadira. Bella can be seen regularly in the Billion belly
solstice parade, at the High Dive in Fremont, at Neighbors on
the second Wednesday of every month, the garden of Allah,
performing a blessing dance using Jasmine. Will perform at
Medfest, with a group and as a soloist. She loves all her
teachers, they have taught and given her so much. She is a
passionate dancer that is excited to share her experience with
you! Thank you!

Habib will be vending and have DVD’s for sale of the
choreography at the workshop.(( Tip, you know that really cool
sari skit me and Laura Rose are always wearing in class? We got
them from Habib, so come to the workshop and beat the shoppers
at med fest))
The choreography can be performed with one or many dancers,
class ends with a stretching cool down.

Bring water and wear comfortable clothing.

Hip scarfs and coin belts will be useless.

LAST NIGHT
We did the 90 min “Power Belly with Veil”workshop last night and
I am so sore today!

I haven’t been dancing enough the past few weeks. Just shouting
counts and pecking away at the key board through the parade.
Felt great to dance hard!

new class series starts next Tuesday and Thursday.

and Amazing Arlington! June 28 & 29 Teaching workshops &
Performing in Gypsy Cabaret.  Magidah will be teaching us her
absolutely jaw dropping layering technique and drills on
Saturday from 12:30-2:30Sunday she will be working our Buns
off with a Magidah packed Drum Solo……Both workshops are
$25 in advance(apiece), $30 at the door and are held @ Stilly
