NWBD: Saturday at HABESHA =>World Class Acoustic Arabic & Belly Dance Show!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

This Saturday, September 27th
Habesha Ethiopian Restaurant & Lounge
1809 Minor Ave. (Minor & Howell) in downtown Seattle
9:30-10:30pm - No Cover!

HABESHA features Stephen Elaimy (Oud), Erik Brown (Tabla), Nina
Vukmanic (Bass), Jane Hall (Percussions), Sallah Ali (Violin),
and SUZANNA in a world class acoustic Arabic & belly dance show,
enjoying a timeless music and dance together, naturally.

Completely affordable, convenient, delicious, quality
entertainment, and never the same show twice! Come enjoy it
while it’s here!

And for you parents, although it’s a bit late, kids are welcome
(as long as they don’t go over to the bar and order a drink!).
So give ‘em an afternoon nap and come on out.

Parking is a breeze. It’s validated on adjacent (north) lots and
across the street. Just be sure to ask the restaurant for a
“validation card” for your window.

ABOUT HABESHA
Savory, nutritious, and delicious Ethiopian cuisine (and the
cocktails won’t disappoint either), combined with world class
entertainment every 4th Saturday!

An exquisite, classy venue that celebrates cultural art and
artists. The Manhattan style decor flaunts a cascading full
bar (and they know how to use it) with exposed brick walls
tastefully decorated with vibrant traditional Ethiopian artwork
surrounding the open dining area, infused with the amber glow
of artistic ceiling lamps. Graceful service with dinner prices
around $9-$14.

DIRECTIONS TIP:
This east downtown Seattle location is tricky for most, but
only the first time. Minor is a limited street that runs
parallel to Boren Ave. The cross street is Howell, about a
block before that sneaky (hardly any signs) entrance to the I5
North Expressway. If you find yourself on Denny & Boren, you’re
about 3 blocks north of the establishment.

NWBD: delilah, amelia moore etc at spice box this saturday!

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Spice Box Theater is getting spicier!

We just added AMELIA MOORE to the lineup! She will be delighting
us with her Turkish Rom dance and Belly Dance.

Our featured dancer is DELILAH!!!! Plus, she will be bringing
some surprise guests with her. We have  a crew coming in early to
build her props. I can’t wait to see it!

Also, we have IMEI doing two sets. In case you missed her at
Medfest, she is presenting this lovely number by my special
request AND she will be premiering a new choreography that will
literally have your sense wrapped up in awe….

Morgan Elene will be stunning us with her modern dance that is
heavily fused with belly dance. Perhaps we will get to see her
turn upside down?

There will also be a mesmerizing number by Fleurs de Nuit. They
are students of Kendra, the director of Hands of Kali. I got to
see them at Kendra’s Hafla last month…what a treat!

We also get to see what Constance has up her sleeve. She’s bee
n working hard on a new number that is ready for our viewing.
When she’s not solo, she dances with Y’Chessa Dahli.

I can’t wait to share what I saw at the Totally Tribal Hafla
with you. That would be Banshee. Not only does she compose her
own music for her own choreography. She also made her own
costume. Some of her other handmade items are on consignment
at Skin Deep Dance Studios. So, bring your wallet. We take
plastic now!

Now, we just can’t have a show without showing you what we
are up to. So, Skin Deep will be performing as well. We have
some tricks up our sleeves too, or chould I say choli’s?
