NWBD: Update on Sahabra Tipton, cancer treatment

Hi, I hope you who don’t know me will forgive me for using
Yasmin’s list of recipients to help spread the word for Sahabra.
I just got home (Kennewick, WA) yesterday from spending a week
with Sahabra.  Things are pretty rocky for her, but there’s a lot
that loving friends can do.  If you can help, here goes:

Sahabra and hubby Tim need two things that are in short supply
for all of us: $ help (no medical insurance), and TIME.  You
know of Indigo’s and Fairuz’ plans in Yasmin’s message below,
and of the medical trust fund that Assunta set up at Bank of
America, so here’s the other stuff.

Sahabra needs transport for appointments - since she is on a
lot of meds, she can’t drive to and from (besides, I don’t trust
that van past the end of the driveway!).  Each appt seems to start
late and last longer than estimated, so if you can drive, plan on
a chunk of time, and bring your knittin’!  Tim can’t risk losing
job hours at work (besides, you’re all better drivers).

Second, since she must keep warm, Sahabra’s “on lockdown” in the
house, bored and frustrated.  Please visit, even for a few
minutes, or call, or mail a note - it makes the time go faster.
For address or phone number, please contact Yasmin or Assunta.

Third, she needs reassurance that people care - independent woman
that she is, she feels “worthless” not being able to keep busy, and
needs to be reminded we love because of who she is, not what she
does.  And she loves a good (or bad!) joke and to talk about
dance, costuming, sunshine, dogs, gardens.  Being with her is
amazing and uplifting - I went over to help her, but came home
having received as much as I had given.

Sincerely, Susie (Z, ZZ, Aziza Hayat, Hey Cowgirl, etc.)
